A house fire in Coal City blazed for over an hour before area firefighters extinguished it Friday evening.
According to Raleigh County Emergency Operations officials, the fire was reported shortly before 3 p.m. Friday.
A caller said that the garage of a home on Bower Lane was fully engulfed and that the fire was advancing to the house, according to official reports.
Coal City Volunteer Fire Department responded to the call, assisted by firefighters from Sophia, Sophia Area, Rhodell and Lester fire departments.
Jan Care ambulance crews also responded as a precaution, but no injuries were reported, officials said.
The fire had been extinguished by 4 p.m. Friday, but the house was destroyed.
