Yes, Spot, there is a Santa Claus

— Santa will make an appearance for photo-ops with pets from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at PetSmart at Crossroads Mall.

A donation of $5 will benefit Raleigh County Animal Rescue. Just bring your camera and snap away.

Raleigh County Animal Rescue will also be hosting an all-you-can eat Pancake Breakfast at Applebee’s Harper Road Saturday from 8 to 10 a.m. You may have all the pancakes and sausage you can eat for $5.

Tickets are available at the door.

According to RCAR president Iona Bowers, this is the time of year when donations decline.

"We are in need of cat food and dog food," said Bowers.

RCAR is a home-based, no-kill animal rescue that takes in homeless, abused and injured pets.

However, RCAR is in need of foster homes.

You may make donations to RCAR by calling 304-228-9047. RCAR is a 501(c)3 organization; therefore, your donation is tax-deductible.
