— Troopers from the Beckley detachment of West Virginia State Police arrested a North Carolina woman who told police she sells pills in the local area.

Officers pulled over Lisa Norman France, 46, of Mount Airy, on Interstate 77 and discovered “a quantity of various pills and U.S. currency” in her vehicle.

After Cpl. A.D. Palmateer and Trooper 1st Class L.W. Price questioned France, she admitted that she was trafficking pills in southern West Virginia, Sgt. D.W. Bennett of the Beckley detachment related in a press release.

She was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and taken to Southern Regional Jail, added Bennett.

According to the SRJ website, she is being held on $50,000 bond.

The prescription pill epidemic in the state has led to spikes in burglaries, prostitution and other drug-fueled crimes, law enforcement officials say.
