House declared total loss after early morning fire

Bradley-Prosperity Volunteer Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Patteson Drive in Prosperity early Sunday morning. When crews arrived, the house was fully engulfed in flames.

Assistant Fire Chief Bobby Palmer said the call came in at 3:48 a.m. Sunday and fire crews did not leave the scene until 8 a.m.

He said the house was a total loss, but the homeowners were not present at the time of the fire and there were no injuries.

Palmer said one neighboring house sustained damage from the heat, causing the vinyl siding to melt. A neighboring car also sustained paint damage from the fire.

The cause and origin of the fire are unknown at this time; the state fire marshal has been called in for further investigation.

The homeowners were contacted while crews fought the flames and arrived about an hour and a half later, Palmer said.

He said the family is being assisted by the American Red Cross with shelter and clothing.

Bradley-Prosperity Fire Department was also assisted by Beaver, Mount Hope and Pax fire departments.
