— The second annual Operation Family Freedom, a faith-based event to address drug addiction and abuse, will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Linda K. Epling Stadium.

Volunteer Melonie Terry said local organizations will set up booths to network and share resources with the community to address drug addiction and abuse in our area.

“Area churches, the community and everyone is invited to come,” Terry explaine. “It’s an opportunity to be made aware of resources and help available.”

Special guest speaker Congressman Nick Rahall is scheduled to open the event.

Terry said a couple ministers will preach and gospel singers Jarrod Pugh and Jacob Snuffer will perform. MAPDA (Mothers Against Prescription Drug Abuse) and One Voice will be at the event to provide outreach services.

“There is help, there is hope, there is healing,” Terry said.
