The Beckley Art Group invites the public to an opening reception Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Cynthia Bickey Art Gallery on Johnstown Road for a new exhibit that falls right in line with the newest trend in art — repurposing and recycling.
The “New Life From Old Things” exhibit will be displayed Feb. 9 through March 9 and can be viewed during gallery hours, Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Karen Lilly, spokesperson for the Beckley Art Group, said patrons can expect to see everything from paintings on repurposed windows to artists incorporating recyclables or trash into their work.
She said a wide variety of art forms will be on sale, like jewelry, painting and sculpture, all repurposed, revamped and recycled.
Also during this exhibit, the Beckley Art Group will have an artist’s trunk sale.
“Any items artists are not using can be dropped off for sale and those artists who are on the lookout for items to incorporate into their art can purchase these odds and ends,” Lilly said.
The trunk sale will include such items as assemblage pieces, recycled art findings, sewing supplies, painting supplies and vintage pieces.
