iPad to be given away at College Goal Sunday

For The Register-Herald

—

Some lucky student attending the Feb. 10 College Goal Sunday at the New River Community and Technical College Greenbrier Valley Campus will win an iPad in a drawing at 4 p.m. that day.

Each family that completes the Student/Family Survey during the event will be eligible to register for the iPad giveaway.

College Goal Sunday is an opportunity for students and families to receive free confidential support in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Graduating high school seniors, adults looking to start or return to college and current college students should complete a FAFSA. Parents may attend to learn more or to complete the FAFSA on behalf of their student.

Those planning to attend should bring their Social Security numbers, 2012 federal tax return, W-2, other income records and a valid ID. Beginning at noon, a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) team will be available to help any student or parent with 2012 income tax preparation.

The GVC is one of several sites in West Virginia hosting the event this year. Other locations within the New River Community and Technical College service area include Bluefield State College, Concord University and the Erma Byrd Higher Education Center in Beaver. To register or get more information about College Goal Sunday, including a complete list of locations and what to bring, visit www. cfwv.com.

The New River event will be from 1 to 4 p.m. in Greenbrier Hall, 101 Church St., Lewisburg. Parking is available in the lot behind Greenbrier Hall. Students do not have to plan to attend New River to receive assistance.
