New River CTC to offer work ethic class

— New River Community and Technical College is offering an opportunity for unique training and motivation for outstanding workplace performance.

Beginning Feb. 18, the college will offer an online Work Ethic Certificate Program consisting of two noncredit courses each containing 15 weeks of instruction.

This program will benefit job seekers by providing excellent preparation for career success as well as providing employers with credentials to demonstrate that you are dependable, ambitious and ready for advancement in the modern workforce.

This program is also a great opportunity for local businesses to provide training that will help their staffs become more productive and valuable employees.

The instructor, Col. Jim Cannon, has been teaching for more than 20 years and has 30 years of experience directly managing and supervising people as a corporate manager, military officer and university vice president.

In his roles with the Chamber of Commerce and adjunct faculty at New River, Cannon has recognized how important a strong work ethic is to productivity and how essential this training is for our modern workforce.

The first course, “Secrets of a World Class Work Ethic,” is an in-depth employee development course that stresses the importance of self-motivation and the work habits employees must practice for success in the workplace.

The second part of the certificate program is a course in “Productivity Innovation and the American Dream.” This is an advanced employee development course that provides a roadmap to the American dream for those wanting to become outstanding employees.

Successful completion of this two-course program will lead to a Work Ethic Certificate and an Economic Warrior Medal.
