State Police searching for convicted sex offender

West Virginia State Police are searching for a registered sex offender who failed to report for his annual registration.

Ronald Ward II, 27, of Eccles, was convicted in 2006 for the third degree sexual assault of a 16-year-old female in Raleigh County.

Because the victim was a minor, Ward is required to be a lifetime registrant. Registered sex offenders must register annually in their birth month and must also register within 10 business days of any change of their registry information.

After failing to report for his annual registration, police found that Ward no longer resided at his last known address.

His whereabouts are unknown and he is being charged with failure to register as a sex offender.

He is approximately 5-foot-10, 180 pounds, with brown hair, which may be cut close to bald, and has multiple tattoos.

Police say his last known address was on Ballfield Road in Eccles. He is known to frequent the Glen White, Crab Orchard and Beckley areas, as well as locations within Fayette, Greenbrier and Summers counties.

Anyone with information regarding Ward is asked to contact Cpl. R.A. Daniel at the West Virginia State Police Beckley Detachment at 304-256-6700. Persons may remain anonymous and may also contact their nearest local law enforcement department or Crime Stoppers of Raleigh County at 304-255-STOP.
