3 more arrested in Rupert shooting

A Beaver couple and a Nicholas County man have been charged in connection with the Sept. 13 shooting of two Rupert men.

Jeffrey Alden, 30, of Beaver and Ryan Isenhart, 22, of Richwood, were arrested by the Beckley detachment of the West Virginia State Police and charged in Greenbrier County on Saturday for two counts each of attempted murder.

Alden’s wife, 22-year-old Jessica Alden of Beaver, was charged in Greenbrier County with accessory after the fact of attempted murder and was arrested by officers from Beckley Police Department and U.S. Marshal’s Service.

Two men, Alonzo Martin, 21, and Aaron Clemons, 22, of Beckley, were arrested Nov. 8 and charged with attempted murder in the same shootings.

The charges stem from a Sept. 13 incident in which unidentified suspects attempted to break in to the mobile home of a Rupert woman who was known to some of them.

When the woman called for help, her neighbors Kipton Puffenbarger, 49, and Clinton Walker, 22, saw two unidentified men around her trailer and they scared them away before they entered, authorities said.

When the two men later entered a Pontiac Trans Am, Puffenbarger and Walker gave chase in their own vehicle.

The occupants of the Trans Am fired paintballs at the two men, then later fired a gun.

A bullet struck Puffenbarger in the right temple. Walker was shot in the ankle while he was attempting to assist Puffenbarger.

The abandoned Trans Am was found on Irish Mountain in Raleigh County.

All of the suspects remain in Southern Regional Jail except Martin.
