Finding activities is about to get easier

These are some of the most popular requests for information that are made to the Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce office and some of the reasons for creating an online Community Calendar.

The chamber, in partnership with Snowball Web Management and Digital Marketing and Beckley Renaissance, have developed, an online community calendar that is available to individuals, businesses, organizations and groups to post their events anytime.

The new community calendar features Post-Your-Own Event Capabilities, Categorical Event Listings, Linkable Event Descriptions that link to websites that offer more detailed event information, Event Display Advertising Options, RSS Event Post Notifications.

Mark Wray, chief development officer of Snowball, said, “This new community calendar has many new features that will offer event planners an additional way to promote their events and websites and features that will offer event goers a search option for finding things to do in the community.”

Chamber president and CEO Ellen Taylor added, “The Community Calendar has been a longtime discussion with member businesses needing a source for finding out what events are planned in the community so they can better plan services at their business and coordinate their events to avoid conflicts in scheduling.”

The goal for this new online community events calendar is to provide a tool for everyone to use for promoting their events, promoting their businesses, organizations and groups, and for finding out more about what our community has to offer and where they can go to find out more.

Joe Guffy, information coordinator at Beckely-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, says, “The Community Calendar is a launching point for event information. We want to provide basic event details here with a link to more detailed information available on the business, group or organization page or website.”

Some of the events posted on the Community Calendar will also be shared on the Beckley Events Facebook page. If you are an event planner, put this tool in your event promotion and scheduling tool box. If you want to keep up-to-date with events happening in our area bookmark Visit the Community Calendar, post your events and if you have any questions or need help contact Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce at 304-252-7328.
