Raleigh 7th-graders eligible for free Y membership

— For the sixth consecutive year, 7th grade students in Raleigh County are eligible for complimentary memberships to the YMCA of Southern West Virginia through the Active 7 program, marketing director Jenni Canterbury announced.

“This is a great opportunity for youth to try out Y programs, take advantage of our resources and stay active throughout the year,” said Membership Director Ryan Gilkerson.

Active 7 members have access to the Bobby Pruett Youth Exercise Room, basketball court and swimming pool.

Beginning in September, middle school principals will distribute the Active 7 membership applications to students in 7th grade. To activate their memberships, students must complete the application and return it to the Y Welcome Center.

Active 7 applications are only available through the schools and will not be distributed at the Y.

Active 7 memberships for 2013 will be good through Aug. 31, 2014.
