State Fair: Elvis is in the building

Fair Folks and Facts

A CONVERSATION PIECE ... That’s the way to describe one of the statues of Elvis Presley on display in a booth under the grandstand at the State Fair of West Virginia.

In keeping with his “character” Elvis is decked out in a familiar white jumpsuit  “sprinkled” with gold beading. He has a microphone in his hand and is belting out a song. There are other Elvis items spread around the spacious booth, as well as items including garden flags in every shape, size and description.

The booth also is loaded with prints of other celebrities including movie icon Clark Gable and country music award-winner Tammy Wynette, along with unique license plates, postcards and an Army Eagle gold belt.

It’s a neat place to shop when you’re at the fair.

NO STRINGS ATTACHED ... I will have one last column Sunday to wrap up all the strings left over from nine days of fair-watching.
