Sheriff’s Department plans more checkpoints

The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department will be conducting increased patrols and sobriety checkpoints during the month of July.

The focus of these patrols will be to identify impaired drivers under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

Officers will also be looking for revoked and/or suspended drivers and any traffic and highway safety related violations of law.

The checkpoints are made possible by a grant awarded through the West Virginia on Drunk Driving Commission.

“If you drink and drive, you will go to jail,” police warned.
