Tips coming in on burglaries

— Tips from the community are leading authorities to coming closer to finding the “persons of great interest” in burglaries that began in the Glade Springs and Daniels areas and have spread throughout southern West Virginia.

Sheriff Steve Tanner said Thursday that the man police think is the “ringleader” of burglaries  has contacted the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department and indicated that he might come into the office, but had not at approximately 3:30 p.m. Tanner added that he “feels confident” that the suspects will be found and is hopeful that the man deemed as the “ringleader” will turn in himself to authorities.

Earlier this week, Tanner said residents should be on the lookout for suspicious persons in their neighborhoods and immediately notify authorities if they see questionable activity. Tanner also said the individuals who are thought to be responsible for the burglaries  are knocking on doors and if someone answers, they tell the homeowner that their car is broken down or they are lost, for example.
