Woman's condition critical after Fayette accident

A single vehicle accident in Mossy Tuesday just before 4 p.m. has left a Fayette County woman in critical condition after being airlifted to a Charleston hospital, reported Fayette County Sheriff Steve Kessler.

Kessler said the driver, Marysa Smith, 24, of Scarbro, was traveling westbound on W.Va. 612 when she ran off the roadway and struck the embankment, flipping the car.

First responders to the scene found the woman “heavily entrapped” and the vehicle on its top, he said.

The Oak Hill Fire Department and Pax Fire Department extricated the woman after about 30 minutes and she was then transported via HealthNet to Charleston Area Medical Center.

She is listed as in critical condition, said Kessler.

The road was closed for around one hour.

The accident remains under investigation by Deputy J.M.. Browning of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department.
