CHARLESTON —
Services are planned next week for a Kanawha County firefighter who was swept away while attempting a water rescue in Raleigh County.
The Glasgow Volunteer Fire Department said Saturday a funeral will be held Wednesday for Donald Adkins.
Friday, Adkins’ body was found in Piney Creek, about 41⁄2 miles from where the 32-year-old firefighter was last seen. Heavy rain and snow melt had swelled the river.
Glasgow Chief Marty Blankenship said Adkins will be buried with honors.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. at Riverside High School.
