Tickets remain available for annual Raleigh Chamber dinner

BECKLEY — Tickets remain available for Friday’s Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce annual dinner.

The event will be held at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center; the reception will start at 5:30 p.m., with dinner to follow at 6:30 p.m.

Dinner attendees do not need to be members of the Chamber; CEO and President Ellen Taylor said everyone is welcome. Tickets are $55 each and table reservations for six, eight or 10 may be made by calling Kip Buchanan at the Chamber at 304-252-7328. The table reservation fee is $25.

Frank Wood, Beckley Newspapers publisher, will be presented with the Community Service Award during the dinner.

“The dinner gives the community an opportunity to thank somebody and this year we thank Frank Wood, who has been involved in so many aspects of Raleigh County life from transportation, Theatre West Virginia, United Way, Raleigh County Make It Shine, economic development and much more,” Taylor said. “All these things made him an excellent candidate for this award.”

West Virginia’s 2nd District Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito will be the featured speaker for the night.

“We selected Shelley Moore Capito because we understand that she is going to run for the Senate seat that Jay Rockefeller is going to vacate,” Taylor said.

“We saw this as an opportunity for us to get to know her. She’s not really been active in this area, so it’s an opportunity for everyone to get to know her, because at some point in time, she will be on the ballot and we will have to vote for or against her.”

For more information, call the Chamber at 304-252-7328.
