Beckley Concert Association will present a nostalgic evening of brass band music as played on the town square in small town America Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Woodrow Wilson High School auditorium.
Mr. Jack Daniel’s Original Silver Cornet Band is an affectionate re-creation of a small town band that existed in Lynchburg, Tenn., from 1892 until about 1914. The “modern” version of this band was the creation of David Fulmer, who wrote the show and performed as the “Perfesser” for many years.
Since the band began touring in 1978, Mr. Jack Daniel’s Original Silver Cornet Band has performed in concert halls throughout the United States and Canada and has delighted audiences at music festivals, music educator conferences, and civic and private events with its joyful style and virtuosic musicianship.
More than just a band concert, a performance by the Silver Cornet Band is a time-traveling excursion to an era when life moved at a less hurried pace; a time when a warm summer evening was spent with a picnic supper in the park, the fellowship of friends and neighbors, and the sound of band music in the air.
Season tickets for BCA, celebrating its 75th year anniversary this season, are $40 for adults, $35 for seniors 60 and over, $15 for students and $85 for family (two adults, all children); single tickets at the door are $20.
