BECKLEY — A 93-year-old Nicholas County woman was airlifted to a Charleston hospital after a SUV rolled over an embankment, trapping her and the driver for more than 10 hours, police said.
Janet Pyles, 59, of Snow Hill Road, was driving a 1998 Suzuki Sidekick on Snow Hill Road in Mount Nebo around 7:30 p.m. Monday when the vehicle went off the road, rolled about 37 feet over an embankment and flipped onto its top, the Nicholas sheriff’s office said. A passerby reported the accident at 6 a.m. Tuesday.
Both Pyles and her passenger, Violet Lipps, 93, of Snow Hill Road, were trapped inside the vehicle and firefighters had to extricate them, the sheriff’s office said.
Pyles was taken to Summersville Memorial Hospital. Lipps was taken to CAMC via HealthNet.
Lipps was under evaluation Tuesday, according to CAMC.
