November 30, 2008 05:31 pm

Preparations for the 78th annual Mac’s Toy Fund continue. Plans are almost complete for a used coat drive led by the Shady Spring Junior High School cheerleaders. Drop-off sites for coats will be announced next week.
Boy Scout Troop 103 is cleaning and repairing bicycles that will be given away at the Mac’s Toy Fund party Dec. 20 at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center. Used bikes can be dropped off behind the convention center and also behind Beckley Fire Station No. 3 on Eisenhower Drive.
Used toys can be dropped off at BJW Printing, 3100 Robert C. Byrd Drive, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.
All invitations for the Mac’s Toy Fund party are issued through the Department of Health and Human Resources.
Monetary donations are needed to pay for other aspects of the annual event. New toys, coats and fruit are just a few of the expenses. Monetary donations will be accepted through the end of the year.
