Arrest warrant issued in CVB embezzlement case

By Chrissy Boone
Register-Herald Correspondent

SUMMERSVILLE A former employee of the Summersville Convention and Visitors Bureau is being sought by law enforcement.

Nicholas County Magistrate Mike Cooper has signed an arrest warrant for 28-year-old Leah Stein Prutsok, now of Charlotte, N.C.

Prutsok is being charged with the felony offenses of embezzlement and obtaining goods, services or money by use of a fraudulent scheme.

According to court documents, Prutsok, who served as assistant director of the CVB from 2003 through August 2007, opened two checking accounts at a local bank in the name of the CVB for expenses at the Summersville Arena and Conference Center.

From March 2006 to August 2007, Prutsok allegedly took $13,259 from one of the accounts and $2,024 from the second account through a debit card for her personal use.

Prutsok is expected to be arrested in Charlotte and then extradited to Nicholas County to face the charges.

If convicted, she faces up to 10 years in prison on each count.
