Resort officials, union cancel two November labor talks

By Christian M. Giggenbach
Register-Herald Reporter

With only 44 days left until their no-strike, no-lockout agreement expires, the remaining two collective bargaining meeting dates for November have been mutually canceled by The Greenbrier and union officials.

Both sides met Thursday, but little advancement was made in the 13-month labor dispute that’s focused on health insurance benefits for more than 1,100 Greenbrier hotel union members.

“Due to scheduling conflicts, all parties decided not to meet next Monday and Tuesday,” Greenbrier resort public relations director Lynn Swann said Friday.

Union spokesperson Harold Bock was not available for comment Friday.

In June, Gov. Joe Manchin helped broker a no-strike, no-lockout agreement between the two parties which is set to expire on Jan. 4.

Swann said the dates of Dec. 15, 18 and 29 have been scheduled for the next round of talks.
