Books still sought for NIE book sale

By Dawn A. Dayton
Register-Herald managing editor

The Register-Herald’s Newspapers in Education program’s first book sale has been a resounding success.

So much so, that organizer Carla Nelson, sales and marketing manager for the newspaper, is issuing a call to anyone who had books they wanted to donate, but never dropped them off, to do so this week.

Nelson said the newspaper will again accept donations of books of all sorts at the office Monday through Thursday of this week only.

The sale began Friday at the old Dollar Tree location at Crossroads Mall with approximately 20,000 books on hand. After two days of busy sales, the number is seriously depleted — and the sale is to continue today and Nov. 5-8.

Books can be dropped off in the newspaper lobby, 801 N. Kanawha St., at the Fayette Tribune office on Main Street in Oak Hill or at the Wyoming County Report office in Pineville from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Thursday.

Hours for the sale are noon to 6 p.m. today and Nov. 8 and Nov. 6-7 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Books of all genres, geared specifically toward infants up through adults, will cost 50 cents for paperbacks and $1 for hardbacks.

Nelson says there are books to suit everyone’s taste.

Proceeds from the book sale will benefit the Newspaper in Education program which puts papers in school classrooms to assist teachers with some lessons.
