Police: Man dead after being stabbed twice

Police say 33-year-old William Riley King of Bradley is dead after being stabbed twice at Bay Manor Apartments in Bradley Thursday.

According to Raleigh County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Dave Stafford, James Pruitt, 33, of Bradley has been charged with voluntary man-slaughter in relation to King’s death.

“The incident appears to be domestic-related,” Detective Sgt. Larry Lilly said Friday.

Stafford says King and Pruitt allegedly entered into a verbal altercation, which turned physical.

During the physical altercation, Pruitt allegedly picked up a knife off a counter and stabbed King in the chest area twice, Stafford said.

Pruitt was arraigned before Magistrate Steve Massey. He was being held at Southern Regional Jail on $1 million bond.

The initial investigation was handled by Deputy J.B. Grose and followed up by the sheriff’s Detective Bureau.
