Resort calls response ‘phenomenal’

By Courtney D. Clark
Register-Herald reporter

Fewer than 24 hours passed before December dates sold out for The Greenbrier’s newly announced Tribute to the Virginias package.

Jim Justice, owner and chairman of The Greenbrier, announced plans Wednesday to allow West Virginia and Virginia residents to stay at the resort for only $59 per night.

“The initial December dates have sold out and the other dates are filling quickly,” Lynn Swann, The Greenbrier’s director of public relations, said Thursday. “The response to the Tribute to The Virginias offer has been totally phenomenal.”

The Tribute to the Virginias package was previously available on the nights of Nov. 15-16, Dec. 18-20, Jan. 8-10 and Feb. 5-7, but Swann said officials have now extended the weekends in December, January and February to include Monday evening.

“It is very possible that all accommodations on all of the dates will be sold out in the next very few days,” she added.

Although the efforts surrounding the offer were centered on West Virginia and Virginia, according to Swann, guests of all states are welcome to pay tribute to the Virginias by visiting The Greenbrier at the same rate on the specified dates.

“Guests from all around the globe will find the re-imagined Greenbrier warmer and more elegant than ever,” Swann said.
