The colors of autumn shimmer at the Glade Creek Grist Mill at Babcock State Park in Fayette County. The West Virginia Encyclopedia says on its Web site, wvexp.com, that the Babcock mill is one of the most photographed sites in the state, appearing on greeting cards, jigsaw puzzles and as wallpaper sets for murals. Other sites claim it is one of the most photographed sites in the United States. Whatever the veracity of that claim, it is undisputed that the blazing colors of the trees towering over the rough-hewn gray boards of the mill and the boulder-splashed stream combine for an unparalleled vision of autumn in southern West Virginia.
