Sam’s Club inaugural trick-or-treat to benefit Children’s Miracle Network

By Jackie Ayres
Register-Herald reporter

A wicked witch, Hannah Montana, Iron Man or the Joker — this year, kids have a myriad of ideas to choose from when selecting a Halloween costume.

Sam’s Club in Beckley is hoping your child will showcase his or her creativity by entering a costume contest at its first Tailgate Halloween.

Nancy Aldmond, marketing rep for Sam’s, is asking the public to attend the kid-friendly event.

Aldmond says it will be a safe way to take your child trick-or-treating while raising money for a good cause.

Sam’s is asking for a $1 contribution per child trick-or-treating, and is donating 100 percent of proceeds to the Children’s Hospital at WVU in Morgantown, through the Children’s Miracle Network.

Almond asks the public to think of a child you’re helping with this $1 contribution who is not fortunate enough to enjoy Halloween this year, and will instead be spending it in the hospital.

Tailgate Halloween is set for 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Sam’s Club parking lot at 1220 N. Eisenhower Drive in Beckley.

Awards will be given out for Most Original/Best Homemade costume in the following categories: newborn to 2 years, 3 to 7 years, 8 years and up, and pets. This is a pet-friendly event.

If you would like to be a business vendor at the tailgate, call 304-252-6508 and ask for Nancy, Jeremiah or Pam.

An award will also be given for best booth design. Booth space is limited.
