4-H Fun Show today in Daniels

Michelle James
Register-Herald Reporter

Whether you like to ride horses or just watch, today’s 2008 4-H Fun Show looks to offer a little something for everyone.

The event, which benefits the Raleigh County 4-H Kids Fund, is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the show grounds on Country Club Drive in Daniels.

This is the second fun show this year, with the first show raising approximately $2,000.

Festivities kick off with fun show games, such as the potato race, egg and spoon race, water cup race and watermelon race.

There will be categories for both adults and youth 16 and under.

All games will take place on horseback, and event co-organizer Bobby Stump says members of the general public are welcome to bring their own horses or participate on a horse already at the show grounds.

The regular horse show is slated to begin at 2 p.m., with experienced riders participating in 25 different classes.

Stump said those not participating in the regular show are invited to stick around to watch.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” he said. “We’d like to get all of the public involved.”

Entry fees are $3 for each game, $5 for each regular class or $40 for the entire day, which means every event in both shows.

Also, there is a $5 ground fee per horse.

The Silver Spurs 4-H concession stand will be open.
