Fayetteville recognized in 2 more magazines recently

— FAYETTEVILLE — The good vibes about Fayetteville and the natural majesty of the New River Gorge area continue to proliferate.
To complement recognition such as being labeled as one of the top five “coolest small towns in America” by Budget Travel magazine, the Fayette County seat has received prominent mention in two magazines in recent weeks.
According to Sharon Cruikshank, director of the New River Convention and Visitors’ Bureau, the July/August edition of Paddler magazine tabbed Fayetteville as one of the 13 best paddling towns in the United States. To follow that, Rock and Ice magazine, in its September issue, features Fayetteville as one of the top 10 climbing towns.
Cruikshank says the exposure is obviously a positive for the region.
“We’re really excited that the New River Gorge is the focus for a new generation of outdoor enthusiasts,” she said. “What we’ve known for years is reaching out to a multitude of new people.”
In an article for Paddler, writer Joe Jackson highlighted Fayetteville’s prominence in the rafting and kayaking offerings available on the New and Gauley rivers, as well as the town’s after-recreation environment at local eateries and other establishments.
The Rock and Ice feature, which includes a photo of Endless Wall, details the local climbing scene as well as other reasons for visitors to enjoy a stay in town.
