Trinity academy going to 4-day school week

Citing rising gasoline prices, Trinity Christian Academy in Beckley has announced a new four-day schedule beginning this upcoming school year.

“We feel this would benefit our parents as well as our students,” said Diana Dobbins, the school’s principal. “This assists them with the rising gas prices and costs of the transportation to and from school.”

Dobbins said none of the private school’s students use public school transportation, which made it possible to extend the school day over the new four-day week.

“Our quality of education will not be affected,” Dobbins said. “We will still offer the same excellence in education, as well as the necessary coverage of academics.”

The school day will start at 8:15 a.m. and end at 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. There will be no classes on Friday.

Dobbins said both parents and students have been supportive of the new schedule.

“This new schedule offers more family opportunities and helps lessen the stress families face from all the demands of their schedule,” she said.

The school schedule of holidays will remain the same, Dobbins added.

The school is also starting the new school year back in its newly remodeled building.

“The school was flooded last year,” Dobbins said. “The remodeling and renovations are almost complete. We’re very excited to get back to our school.”

Trinity Christian Academy is a Christian school offering grades kindergarten through high school and is located at 224 Pinewood Drive in Beckley.
