Nicholas County officials warn of possible scam

Nicholas County authorities are warning residents to be wary of people trying to sell magazine subscriptions door-to-door, saying a group of people claiming to take such orders are under investigation for fraud.

The Nicholas County Sheriff’s Department is conducting a preliminary investigation involving a group of people claiming to be affiliated with an alleged company called “A.M.P.,” according to a release from the sheriff’s department. The individuals involved are taking orders for magazine subscriptions from people in the Mount Lookout, Mount Nebo and Summersville areas.

These people and this business are under investigation for fraud, the release stated. Those who have ordered anything from this group or have provided the purported sellers with personal and/or financial information are urged to contact Deputy M.A. Hanks at 304-872-7880 or 304-872-4911.
