Authorities say severe thunderstorms were beginning to strike southern West Virginia Saturday night, and some damage reports were already received.
Around 8:30 p.m., dispatchers at the Monroe County Emergency Operations Center said a power outage caused by a utility pole being damaged by high winds and flying debris left Sinks Grove residents in the dark. Several downed trees were reported countywide.
Dispatchers in Greenbrier County were occupied with 911 calls.
