Delegate wants $7 million from Dunbar bridge for turnpike

— CHARLESTON � Almost half of a proposed $15 million payment to a contractor for a Dunbar bridge along Interstate 64 would go instead to the West Virginia Turnpike if an amendment by Delegate Linda Sumner holds up.
Sumner wants to dedicate $7 million of the appropriation to finance both road and bridge repairs along the 88-mile toll road.
Hoping to forestall a pending 60 percent toll increase on the turnpike, Sumner said Tuesday she has attracted bipartisan support for her amendment.
�The turnpike is an 88-mile interstate highway which opened in 1954 and is funded solely from tolls,� she said.
Sumner�s amendment is up for a vote today in the House of Delegates when the Dunbar bridge payment is at stake. ...
