Firefighters salute as they enter Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley and pass under an American flag Sunday.
The Sophia City Volunteer Fire Department engine is carrying the casket of Louis Dale “Sonny” Farthing. Farthing had been a firefighter since 1972 and died last Thursday after battling multiple cancers.
Farthing, named the Sophia city chief just more than two months ago, was buried with full firefighter’s honors.
