A Chevy Trailblazer caught fire while in traffic near the Maple Fork Road intersection on U.S. 19 Tuesday afternoon, authorities say.
Bruce James, chief of the responding Bradley-Prosperity Volunteer Fire Department, said the vehicle’s transmission could have been the problem. The front half of the SUV, along with some of the interior, was damaged in the fire.
U.S. 19 has been reduced to one-lane traffic in each direction in that area because of highway work.
No injuries were reported.
