An accident Tuesday morning in Coal City sent three people to a hospital, Raleigh County sheriff’s deputies said.
Gene Cooper, 78, of Coal City, was backing a 2006 Subaru out of a driveway near Coal City Apartments and struck a passing 1987 Chevy Spectrum driven by Jimmy Leach, 32, also of Coal City, Capt. Gordon Gregory said.
Leach and two passengers in his vehicle, Linda Leach, 25, and James Lilly, 50, were taken to Raleigh General Hospital, Gregory said.
Cooper was found to be at fault, Gregory said. However, no citations were issued. Deputy A.S. Meadows investigated the accident.
