The American Red Cross bloodmobile will set up in the back parking lot of the Beckley Newspapers building from noon to 5 p.m. next Friday.
Donor recruiter Scott Hill says he hopes community members as well as newspaper employees take advantage of the opportunity to help save a life.
“We encourage everyone to come out,” Hill said. “Every two seconds someone in this country needs a blood product and there’s a lot of two seconds in a day, a week and a year, so we have to really hustle to get it.”
Hill says anyone who donates in May will have his or her name entered into a drawing to win a six-person spa.
“It’s a way that the American Red Cross can say thank you to the donors for taking time out of their day.”

Donors have to be at least 17 years old, must weigh at least 110 pounds and, Hill said, must be “feeling pretty good” at the time of the donation. Those currently taking antibiotics will not be permitted to donate.
Although donors under 17 are not eligible, Hill said no one is too old to donate.
Anyone with questions can call the American Red Cross at 1-800-Give-Life.
