A good time for a good cause.
That’s how Sarah Milam, manager of ERA Advantage Reality’s Beckley office, describes the company’s annual bowl-a-thon, which raises money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
The MDA seeks to find cures for diseases of the nervous and muscular systems.
This year’s event will take place from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. June 12 at Leisure Lanes in conjunction with the Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce’s Business After Hours.
ERA is seeking sponsors for the bowling center’s 24 lanes. Those who sponsor a lane will have their names displayed during the event and can bring friends or family to bowl free of charge.
The bowl-a-thon will include food, drinks and door prizes.
“You can’t beat that and it’s all for a good cause,” Milam said.
Last year’s event raised $6,000, a number Milam said she hopes to double.
“This is to help the kids,” she said. “That’s what it’s all about. It’s a night that’s not about ERA but about muscular dystrophy.
“ERA just happens to be the one throwing the party.”
Sponsorships are available for $100 and $200.
Milam said anyone with questions or anyone wishing to sponsor a lane can stop by ERA at 3082 Robert C. Byrd Drive or call 253-0972.
