Beckley event to offer ways to help veterans

A Veteran’s Appreciation Day will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center.
A number of groups and service organizations will be on site to provide area veterans with information on services available to them.
Also, any nonveterans who are interested in finding out more information on veterans support services, or how they can assist in promoting veterans assistance programs in the area, are invited to attend.
Participants include: Beckley Veterans Administration Medical Center; state representative for TRICARE; West Virginia National Guard (who will provide ID cards for authorized veterans and family members); State Rehabilitation Service; Workforce West Virginia; local United Way chapter; Mountain Heart; medical personnel from the Military Entrance and Processing Station, Glen Jean (checking blood pressure, height and weight); the local VFW and American Legion Post; Beckley Social Security Administration Office.
Jan Dils Law Office is funding the event, which is free and open to the public.
