A MacArthur man who was struck by a vehicle while walking along Robert C. Byrd Drive in MacArthur Thursday night suffered a broken leg, according to West Virginia State Police.
Senior Trooper J.L. Howell said Jerry Smith, 35, was struck by a Geo Metro driven by 44-year-old Karen Lilly of Sophia, at about 8:15 p.m.
Howell said Lilly told police her vehicle struck Smith immediately after it crested a hill in the southbound lane just past the underpass in MacArthur.
Because of heavy snow at the time of the accident, Howell said no tire tracks or footprints were visible at the scene.
No citations were issued.
Howell was assisted at the scene by Senior Trooper J.J. Phillips.
