Republican Party — it’s time to wake up
Dr. Richmond, I found your Oct. 13 letter to be offensive, inaccurate, but hysterically funny.
I can think of a lot of things I can say about John Boehner other than “Bonehead” or “bully,” but The Register-Herald couldn’t print them.
Unfortunately, the U.S. Constitution doesn’t call for a balanced budget though President Reagan and President Clinton both tried to get a balanced budget amendment passed, and both were working with a Republican Congress.
A train wreck is the insurance companies that issue a health insurance policy to someone who pays high premiums for years, gets sick and then is told that they are not covered and dropped because their illness is due to a pre-existing condition.
A train wreck is the hospitals and doctors that can charge more than a hospital or doctor down the road for the same procedure.
A train wreck is the drug companies charging $1 for a pill that only costs 2 cents to make.
Obamacare changes all of this.
The Democrats are not in control of Washington.
Yes, we have a Democratic president and the Senate has a majority of Democrats, but the House has a majority of Republicans or John “Bonehead” Boehner wouldn’t be Speaker of the House.
The Democrats in Washington aren’t all from West Virginia and that’s why they are different, they’re representing the voters in their districts where the issues are different from ours.
Your last paragraph gave me the biggest laugh and proves that the Republican Party has been hijacked by nut jobs.
The U.S. is a republic and democracy is our form of government, but socialism in the U.S. began the moment President Washington imposed a liquor tax to pay for the Revolutionary War.
Without socialism there would be no public schools, criminal justice system, fire departments and airports, the U.S. military or paved roads.
The Republicans have forgotten that it took socialism for the U.S. to become the greatest nation the world has ever seen.
It’s time for the Republican Party to wake up, Dr. Richmond.
