We can’t afford more of Obama’s nonsense

On Barack Obama’s first day as president of the United States, gas was only $1.86 per gallon. Now, the national average is around $3.80. In some U.S. cities such as Los Angeles, New York and Chicago, the price of gas is over $4 per gallon. Like many Americans, my family is struggling to make ends meet in this bad economy. We live paycheck to paycheck. And, we are absolutely disgusted by the high price of gasoline in our country.

There is no good reason why a gallon of gas should have to cost more than $2. But, Obama’s Administration wants Americans to pay what most Europeans are paying for gasoline — a whopping $9 per gallon. In fact, President Obama’s Secretary of Energy, Steven Chu, actually stated before Congress: “Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe.” As shocking as his statement is, it is even more appalling to discover that President Obama is the driving force behind our nation’s high gasoline prices.

It is no secret that Barack Obama is extremely anti-coal, and anti-natural gas. According to the American Energy Alliance, “Obama set out to bankrupt the U.S. coal industry by using regulatory power to make it just too costly to operate a coal mine or coal plant.” Of course, coal generates almost 50 percent of America’s electric power. In contrast, windmills, which Mr. Obama favors, produce a mere one percent of the power in the U.S.A.

If truth be told, America has plenty of oil, unfortunately, Obama’s Administration is so vehemently opposed to drilling, that it will not even permit  exploration for oil on federal lands. Yet, the U.S. Geological Survey estimates that there are 10.4 billion barrels of recoverable oil in Alaska alone. At least seven western states in our nation are rich in oil. And, the federal government owns much of  this land (Please note: This land is not located in any U.S. National Park). Also, oil production technology has advanced to the degree where the drilling is barely noticeable.

Barack Obama stopped the construction of the Keystone Pipeline that was suppose to bring Canadian oil down to the Texas coast. This pipeline would have created tens of thousands of high-paying jobs for American citizens. It would have also helped to reduce the price of U.S. gasoline by greatly increasing the supply of oil.

But, Barack Obama rejected this plan. Instead, the Canadians will be shipping the majority of Keystone Pipeline oil overseas to China. We can all thank President Obama for this.

When the U.S.A. has to import foreign oil, the price of gasoline inevitably rises. If our country did not have to rely so much on oil from hostile foreign nations, the price of gas would not be so high. America needs to get oil from our own federal lands. Our country needs a president who comprehends this fact. Furthermore, we desperately need a new commander-in-chief who is willing to do whatever is necessary to help save our nation’s crippled economy. The U.S.A. simply cannot afford four more years of the Obama Administration’s nonsense.
