Voters missed chance to change politicians
Well, we went to the polls and accomplished nothing. What is wrong with us? Did we ship all our brains down I-77 to North Carolina? It would seem so.
We had an opportunity to make changes and we let it go. We sent incumbent after incumbent all across the state at all levels of government back to their jobs. Most haven’t had a new idea in years, have accomplished little to nothing substantial in their last term or terms in office and yet we “hired” them again.
This says less about them than it does us. We are lazy, uninformed and refuse to think for ourselves. It’s easier to select the names we know (regardless of their effectiveness) than the names we don’t know. We refuse to send packing those who have previously been elected when they fail to do what’s right, to do what’s required, to do the people’s business.
We have set ourselves up for more gridlock, more pandering, more influence peddling, more “backscratching,” more of not governing. If it doesn’t work, if it doesn’t get better; don’t blame them; blame the face in the mirror.
