Address change has not been positive

I live in Danese, a very, very small community in Fayette County. I’ve lived here most of my life. I know most people here and they know me.

A few years ago, 911 decided to change everyone’s address. Of course I want emergency workers to hopefully find me if I need them. So, the first address was assigned to us. Several months later, I was told that our address would, again, change.

We were given a new address a short time later, assuring that this one would be our permanent 911 address. I was told to contact all my creditors and utilities and give them my new address. I did. Everything went smoothly.

Last summer a couple moved down below us. The great people at 911 gave this couple our address. Two families, one address. Guess who had to change, that’s right, we had to, again.

My husband had taken time off from work to switch his drivers license to that address and I had ordered two boxes of checks. Now we had to change everything, again.

I again changed my address on all of my bills. It didn’t go as smoothly as before. One month my power bill, for example, came to me with that new address and the next month, it would come in with our very first 911 address. I always checked the box and changed my address on the back of my bills.

My mail carrier decided that, in December, during the worst possible month, she would “return to sender” all my bills that did not have my new address on them. My power bill, my car payment, and other credit cards. I have amassed late fees and had a freeze on my credit because of this. I am very angry and hurt that she could do this to me, and my family. Please be warned, even if you live in a small community don’t trust your mail carrier.
