Good neighbors are better than gold
In the Bible, Luke 10:25-37, we are told what a good neighbor truly is. I love living in my small town of Sophia. It has the best town snow removal services. No matter how deep, they are on the job.
I am blessed with great neighbors. Randall and Ruth Day and Dennis and Dinah Lacy.
I had back surgery almost two months ago, with the rods and pins put in. My doctor told me no shoveling or lifting of any type. Randall Day, works mostly six days per week, but there has not been a day went by that he doesn’t use snow blower to clean neighbors driveways.
With my wife nearly bedfast, I have had to assume the housework (I found out, it is not easy). Also my good neighbors, Dennis and Dinah Lacy have cooked meals, visited and assisted us with any of our needs.
No matter where you may live, either it be in the city or town or country, good neighbors are better than gold. No matter what you do in life, you can’t do wrong by being a good neighbor.

Marsh Fork needs a new school right now
I attended Marsh Fork Elementary School for seven years. Now, that was in the mid-90s and the place was already unfit to learn in. The foundations were already cracking, so I could imagine how they are now. The place was built as a middle school before they turned it into an elementary, which meant all the fountains and things were built for older children, so hardly any of the kids who went there could reach them.
My cousin still goes to Marsh Fork Elementary, and the shape the school is in really does concern me. The recent asbestos problems they’ve had can’t be healthy for those kids. When I went there learning conditions were pretty bad, I can only imagine what these kids are going through today. I’d like to know if the proud people sitting on the school building authority would send their children to this school.
The bottom line is these kids deserve a new school, regardless of the reason. And the new school needs to be built in this area, there doesn’t need to be any more consolidation. I don’t want to see these kids ride an hour each way on the school bus every day like I did. We need a new school, and we need it now.
