Favoritism shown by Division of Highways?
Does the state road show favoritism? After you read this, you be the judge.
There is no money to fix our pot-holed roads that damage our vehicles when we hit them.
There is no money to put a sign on Route 41 telling where Backus Mountain Road is, but the DOH at Clifftop has money to put not one but four signs on Glen Dale Road which has only seven residents on it, to satisfy one resident.
These signs say: No spraying or mowing. I called Randy Cole (DOH) asking what they meant for I own property on this small road.
He said it meant no mowing for the property owner wants it to grow up. Even the state road can not mow between these signs.
I have a driveway that is located between these signs, which my family has maintained for over 80 years.
They want the entrance to this driveway to grow up which will cause damages to vehicle coming in and out of it.
This property owner has trees hanging over the main part of Glen Dale Road that causes vehicle damage when you meet another vehicle.
I asked Randy, Who is responsible for damage to people vehicles? and he gave me no answer.
I wonder who is liable for this damage? Property owner or DOH?
He had no answer for this either.
I pay taxes, a lot more than this one property owner.
I wonder, is this favoritism? I guess it is something a judge will have to decide.
What do you think, favoritism or stupidity?

Reasons why the school bond didnt pass
I was pleased to see the results of the school bond vote in the paper on Oct. 25.
Like the many others, I voted no on the levy. Why, you may ask?
Well, for one, I think that there could have been more money given for the project through other means. Too much of the burden of paying for this bond was placed on the taxpayers.
Many citizens cannot afford a tax rate hike for $49 million in this economic environment. Maybe if the total needed from the taxpayers was less it probably would have stood more of a chance of passing.
For two why does the BOE think that putting an old problem in a new box will suddenly fix everything?
Current BOE members are too much like our current administration; they tend to just throw money at a problem and hope it goes away.
It shows that this is another part of the county that needs a clean sweep come voting time.
