I would like to take a minute to say thank you to the Raleigh County Emergency Operation Center, and a special thank you to the director, Marty Agee, for h elping the town of Rhodell in a time of need.
During the snow storm in October, Ms. Agee and the EOC provided two generators to power the town’s water supply, and provided bottled drinking water while water and electricity was off in the town.
Efforts like this do not go unnoticed, yet very little praise is given to those behind the scenes. They provided drinking water and ice to the residents during the June 30 wind storm while the power and water were out as well.
Firefighters of the Rhodell Volunteer Fire Department provided assistance to the community and to the town as it was needed. Hot meals were also cooked at the fire department for those in need; members delivered the water provided by the Raleigh County EOC, while other firefighters cut trees from the highways in order to travel to those in need and pick up supplies.
I must say well done and thank you to my firefighters for their time and effort to help their community. That’s what it’s all about, helping one another in times of need.

The idea for this country, contained in our founding documents, was revolutionary and brilliant, and it was about limited government, property rights, self-reliance and self-determination — which makes it a conservative concept from the start.
