Elected GOP women OK with abortion right

Mr. Ward, by comparing the murder of 20 school children at the hands of a deranged gunman with a woman’s First Amendment right to have an abortion, you are comparing apples to oranges.

I can find several references in Matthew, Mark, and Luke in my Bible concerning Christ’s statement that children are the kingdom of Heaven, and of those children referenced, all are of an age that are able to walk, run, play and go to the school of the day, but none are in the womb.

Did you watch the ABC evening news at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 3, 2013?

Twenty new female Democratic and Republican U.S. senators from all across the U.S. were sworn in on that day and interviewed as a group by Diane Sawyer.

Ms. Sawyer asked these ladies if they had any plans to reverse Roe vs. Wade now that they’ve taken their oath of office. All 20 answered no and stated that reversing Roe vs. Wade has always been a Republican men’s agenda to get elected and that the Republican men should just leave women’s bodies alone.

Ms. Sawyer asked these ladies if they would support abortion legislation if such legislation were proposed. Nineteen said no; one older Republican lady said, “Well?”

If that one anti-abortion response tells me anything, Mr. Ward, it’s that only one-half of 1 percent of American women favors anti-abortion legislation; that’s a pretty small number of anti-abortionists.

Given that the vast majority of American women want the Republicans to leave their bodies alone, Mr. Ward, shouldn’t you be doing as the women ask instead of doing the opposite? You alone, Mr. Ward, make me so very proud to be an Independent voter.

If a state as small as Connecticut has 47 legal abortion clinics, just think of how many legal abortion clinics California has. Wow!
