Residents suffer when no one owns road

As a resident of Skyview Drive in Jamescrest Subdivision, I am pleading for someone to tell me how we can live in a neighborhood where no one owns the road.

Our street is in TERRIBLE condition, pothole after pothole. Not to mention that our roads are not plowed or salted by Division of Highways.

Paige Ward and NPW Development built these homes and made their money. Then they walked away and said they don’t own the road and that we should check with the state DOH. Well, guess what? The DOH said they don’t own the road either and that they are not adopting any new roads.

So that leaves us where?

Our street is a mess. Our vehicles are being damaged, yet our property values are decreasing while our property taxes are increasing.

The entire subdivision has paved, state-maintained streets except Skyview Drive and Kevin Ridge. The estimates for repairing our road are between $55,000 and $58,000 — entirely too much for 20 residents to even consider trying to pay for on their own.

Maybe we should all try to sell our homes back to NPW since we don’t own the road, either.

HELP!

Jesus should not be just Savior but Master

The birth of Jesus was just celebrated, and soon we will remember His death, but we must not forget that between those two events there is a record and a legacy explaining His purpose here on earth.

He said the words He spoke were not His own, but that He was delivering a message from God. John the Baptist said Jesus came to earth to give the children of men the power to become the Children of God!

Many people will tell you that Jesus is their Lord and Savior, but how many understand that in order for that to be so, they must also accept Jesus as their Lord and Master?

I would encourage anyone to study the teachings of Jesus, as reported by Matthew, Mark, Luke and John in the New Testament, to learn what Jesus requires of those who would sincerely follow Him.

In those teachings Jesus says if you believe in Him, you must also believe in His words. He says if you love Him, you will obey His teachings. He asks how can you call Him Lord if you don’t do the things He tells you to do.

He also said if any come after Him, preaching a different gospel, we should not listen to them.

Jesus will save you by teaching you the way that leads to Heaven. No other plan is needed, nor should any ever be taught in place of the teachings of Christ. The world does not know the Gospel as Jesus preached it, but with faith in God, if only the ones who claim to be Christians would become obedient to the teachings of Jesus, the world could be saved.
